Greeters are positioned at every entrance of the church. It is the greeter’s job to welcome people and to help direct people. A greeter is often the first representative of Southview that people encounter when they enter the building.
The role of ushers is to work together with the Greeters during services and special events to assist in welcoming, directing and seating guests and others as needed. They are also tasked to collect offerings, be aware of the building layout to direct guests and be initial responders in emergency situations.
These individuals help answer questions our guests and congregation may have regarding our church ministries. They help provide information to our guests and congregation.
These individuals are responsible for preparing, setting up and cleaning up the coffee/tea table and water stations for our weekend gatherings.
These individuals act as tour guides to those joining us for the first time. They will greet newcomers and bring them to the different areas in which they need to go. As well as, assisting in getting them seated in the Worship Centre. Post service, these hosts will reconnect with the guest to help answer any additional questions.
Southview Kids Check-In
These individuals are stationed at our children’s check in area. They will greet and assist parents as they check in their children into children ministries.
Seasonal Volunteer Opportunities
This is our yearly Summer Camp during the first week of July for all Southview and Community children in grades 1 to 6 (as of fall 2019). This is our biggest event of the year and require several adults and senior high students to lead small groups, crafts, snacks, games and activities as well as junior high students to help. Don’t wait to participate – be a part of Summer Camp now and secure your spot to serve in. Contact Jesus.
Decorating for the Event: Monday, July 1 starting at 9am: 10-12 Adult & Teen volunteers (kids are welcome to come and help, too!) Stay as long as you can!
During the Event: Tuesday, July 2 through Friday, July 5 | 8:30am to 12:00pm. Check out our Summer Camp information page under Southview Kids main page.
Typically, the last Sunday of every month is when we join together at the Lord’s Table. During the season of Advent and Lent we partake in communion every week. We are in need of volunteers to assist us in preparing communion before Saturday and Sunday evening service and refilling communion in between the 9:00 am and 11:00 am service.
We need a minimum of the following:
Saturday 6:30 pm: 4 volunteers
Sunday 9:00 am: 6 volunteers
Sunday 11:00 am: 4 volunteers
Time commitment: 15-20 mins each time.
Occasionally we need volunteers to help with certain building projects or other odds and ends jobs around the church. Time commitment: 1-3 hours each time. Contact email@example.com.
If you have a green thumb, we would love your help in the spring and summer seasons to assist with cleaning flower beds, planting flowers, trimming trees, and pulling weeds. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Special Events Team
Volunteers for this team will assist with setting up some of Southview’s special events like: Stampede Breakfast, Block Party, Christmas Eve Services. These serving opportunities vary in time commitment.
