Purpose: To bring men together to support each other in growth, knowledge and hope as they develop their identity, foundation, and dependency in our Lord and Master, Jesus Christ.

With the economic downturn, many men are unemployed and searching for new positions and new meaning in their field of work. As men, we identify strongly with our professions. A man’s self-sufficiency is suddenly taken away if he no longer has the means to support his lifestyle, desires and plans. It is a struggle to make sense out of an uncertain world. However, according to Romans 8:28, God turns everything to good for those that love him. And although God is ‘all ways’ working to cause good, it does not mean that everything that happens is good.

This support work group will help men to redefine their priorities and plans to reflect a trust in God that will help them find a new identity, a solid foundation and financial stability. ‘MWW (Men Without Work) can become a forum that will be the catalyst for Men helping Men, fulfilling our mandate of ‘Life on Life’. Sharing knowledge, skills, and aptitudes will give men the hope they need to continue moving forward in this downturn of life.

More than a job board, opportunity comes with better understanding of how ‘work is worship,’ recalibrating our perspective of being in this world but not of it. Being in the world means we can (and have) enjoyed the things of this world, but we should not immerse ourselves in what the world values, nor should we chase after worldly pleasures. Pleasure, self sufficiency, corporate identity and financial independence are no longer our calling in life, but rather the worship of God—through our work.

This support work group can become an outreach of friendship to those outside our church, who are experiencing the same. Group members can show the ‘light’ as they support, strengthen, and share with those inside and outside the group. Members of our church who know of business opportunities can become purveyors of hope for those men without work.

Meetings are will be led by Richard Casavant with support from Marco Boet and David Osborne.
