Lenten Seminar 2019: A Wild Salvation

March 16 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

A Wild Salvation: The Wilderness & Discipleship

In these three Lent talks, Mark Buchanan, pastor, professor and author, will explore how wilderness – real and metaphoric – heightens both our sense of God’s nearness and the devil’s schemes. Wilderness, a primal risk, where we can turn from God or trust more deeply in him. It is the place where saints are tested, refined, and made. Looking at the wilderness stories in Scripture and history, and especially at the desert experience of Jesus.  Reflection on how suffering, solitude and temptation are key to Christian formation.

    • Session 1: Wilderness as Suffering and Newness (Friday) 7:00 – 9:00 pm
    • Session 2: Wilderness as Confusion and Clarity (Saturday) 9:00 am – 10:30 am
    • Session 3: Wilderness as Temptation and Victory (Saturday) 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
