At Southview we believe that a small group is a way to experience authentic community and spiritual growth. Discipleship is about learning from Jesus to know the voice of God, follow in obedience, and teach others to do the same by the power of the Spirit. Small groups are a great environment for this to happen.
Our logo is a good visual representation of our vision for small groups. We desire for people to be in relationship with the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit, as represented in the cross. We journey together in community with others, represented in the circle. And finally, we go out on mission to the broken world and to all people with the Good News and love of Jesus, represented in the arrows. Intertwined in that is the understanding that small groups are a place where accountability takes place and people experience belonging and care.
GroupLink is a two-hour event where you come to connect with people who are perhaps in your stage of life, who go to the service you go to, or who perhaps live in your area of the city and then form a small group.
Small groups are groups of couples, singles, men’s or women’s groups with about 6 to 12 people that meet weekly or bi-weekly in a group member’s home for fellowship, Bible Study, and prayer and do regular outreach. They are for adults of all ages, stages of life and spiritual maturity.
What you can Expect at a GroupLink
When you arrive at GroupLink, you will be directed to the check in area, where you will sign in and receive your nametag. The evening is divided into five segments.
During the first part of the evening, you’ll receive a warm welcome from the event host and a quick overview of what to expect.
Mingle Time is an opportunity to meet others who are perhaps in your stage of life, who go to the service you go to, or who perhaps live in your area of the city. You’ll have to put in a little effort to meet a few new folks, but it will be well worth it! You’ll spend time in conversation and getting to know people. Potential groups begin to take shape and friendships begin to form.
During the Group Formation, you will get better acquainted with the new people you’ve met and begin to form a group.
During the Vision Cast segment, you will learn a little about what to expect from a small group experience. You’ll learn what a small group is and it isn’t.
To wrap up the evening, each group will sit back, relax, and get to know each other a little bit better. You’ll have some fun and plan your first social event to kick-start your group.
